So, I got exhaust put on my Polara the other day, and finally got it on the road. It is loud as all hell, which to a certain degree was the idea, being that it is a NASCAR tribute car, but it's just way too loud. Ungodly loud. The system under my car is very simple, and being that it is registered as an antique it undergo's no serious scrutiny, except of course decibel level.... but the fuzz doesn't really seem to care about V8 classics. I've got 2.25 inch pipe running from my iron manifolds to Flowmaster Super 10 single chambers, exiting just out front of the rear tires. Thats it. It barks. We knew it would, it was done as a favor and was more or less for fun, but there will come a time very soon that I don't feel like blasting peoples roofs off when I drive by.
So, what dual system do you run? Why do you like it? Loud? Good tone? Dialed back?
In addition to show and tell about your system, if you were given the option to do whatever you want but limited to simply one muffler/sound deadener per pipe to achieve the ideal noise and sound, what would it be? the side pipe setup I have doesn't leave tons of room for cats plus muffler, maybe it could squeeze, maybe....

went with 2.25 duals on my 91 gmc build...sounded like hell and lost low end torque...payed to have it redone a second time with single 3 in..tourque returned and sounds great now..anyway not a Chrysler but food for thought..sometimes bigger isn't always better lve found this being said would probally do same for a 383 but would have dual out of muffler to retain dual look on your car.. would definitely seek advise from those that have done it
The single chambers and no tailpipes to speak of would be loud on anything.
I would considernsome magnaflows with an x-pipe if you want nascar type growl but without tailpipes you will still be too loud.Run some 2.5 headpipes and 2.25 tail pipes and get the sound out from under the car.
I run 3" headpipes to the x then 2.5 all the way back with dynomax hemi super turbo mufflers and mine is almost too quiet until you hit it.

I have 2 1/4 pipes with dual 18" AP Xlerator stainless mufflers. Here is a little video I made a while back. No time do I get on it, It is mostly idling and slightly raising the rpms, but it may give you an idea. It is pretty mellow and not loud in the car, but you certainly know it is there when you tromp on it. The car is a bone stock 383.
There are several guys on moparts that swear by the hooker aerochamber but I have not run them.I had a set of them for my mustang but they wouldn't fit. They looked like a flowmaster baffled design inside. Consider the dynomax vt series muffler for quiet while cruising but straight through when hammered.

Ditch the flowmasters.i had em and hated them.not because they were loud, because they sounded lousy, very tinny sounding.i use magnaflows only now becuase they sound awesome.anytime i liked an exhuast ,i would ask and they were always magnaflows.my car is loud and i do have a 3" system but isnt offensive at idle but great with my foot in it.i have dual 18" case stainless mufflers.i went with longer mufflers in hopes it would be slightly mellower than 14" cases.i run a single 3" with a 18" round on my daily driver dakota 5.2 and its great and get asked alot about the sound being very cool.for me it aint a true hotrod unless you offend someone with it being to loud.favorite thing to do is going under overpasses full throttle and setting off a few car alarms in the neighborhood .

The Flowmaster is an excellent muffler - in fact the best and only muffler - if you are a 28 year old swimming pool installer who has a 210 mile-new Chevy 1/2 ton that will be 'hot rodded' with aforementioned mufflers, a Calvin pee-pee sticker, and black aftermarket wheels.
