I need help with this one. I have a bad booster on my 300. However, I also have a reman booster for a -73 Newport w/400 cid. Now, the 300's booster is about twice as thick as the new part for Newport.
You can see the difference here:
-73 Newport
-69 300
I have about million things to do right now, so I have no time to test how the Newport's booster would work on my 300. I need to know it BEFORE I make the swap.
Does anyone have experience in this kind of swap?
I should have my 300 back on the road by saturday, aaarrrggghhh...
Different vendor - the narrow one is a Midland Ross booster, and the thick one is a Bendix Dual Diaphragm.
There may be the need for a spacer for the booster, and also, if you've got column shift, the Midland Ross booster might interfere with your column shift linkage a bit, preventing you from engaging Low 2 and Low 1... that sometimes occurs with 65-68 cars, but shouldn't if I recall correctly with a 69.
Don't throw away or exchange your Bendix booster, as they're becoming very hard to find, and people want them for disc conversions for 65-68 C bodies.
