Hi, can anyone tell me what the stock 440 hydraulic pushrod length is as I want to order a slightly shorter set?
I'm trying to replace my stock rockers with some adjustable roller rockers and the adjusters barely need to be turned in to remove lash and that leaves the top of the adjusters just contacting my valve cover baffles. Shorter pushrods will allow me to screw the adjusters in a little more and cure the problem.

You should get an adjustable length-checking pushrod and determine the correct custom length pushrods you need based on that.
For proper geometry, most adjustable rockers should be adjusted so there are 0-2 threads showing below the rocker body. The adjustment is there to set lash/preload, not to make-up for mismatched parts.
Out of curiosity, what kind of adjustable rockers did you get? This is for a 440, right?

Yes, for a mild 440, but not sure of the make as I got them from a friend of mine. I think they will be Chinese made as most seem to be nowadays. They come complete with shafts.
When adjusted to give 1/4 turn pre-load the adjusters are flush with the rocker body. If achieving proper pre-load involved a couple more turns then I'm pretty sure there would be enough clearance to allow me to keep my stock valve covers.

roller rockers usually require taller valve covers,i have them on mine.randomly changing pushrod length could screw up your valve geometry.hughes engines can make you a proper set of pushrods and will send you the tool to get the length and then you send it back to them and they make them.
