but I dont know beyond that. So the T-10 sucked? Seems like it would bolt up pretty straightforward? Id have to work out a pedal assembly and master and get a new driveshaft, and wire up reverse. cut some holes in the floor and beat and bang some, patch it all up. I havent had the discipline to sit down and read through c body 4 speed conversion threads on here, but I just dont get why the C body is such a pain to put a 4 speed in?

Back in the late 50's and early 60's the rage was 4 on the floor with a Hurst shifter. Guys would spend hours practising power shifting up and down the gears. A few were very good, many were not so good and a lot learned how to replace blown gear boxes when they managed to find reverse at a bad time. An interesting thing happened, Mopar guys start switching to automatics and started winning more 1/4 mile runs. The GM and Ford guys stayed with their 4 speed boxes after discovering their auto choices were crappy. By the mid 60's 4 speed Mopars were few and far between.
As for putting a 4 speed into something like my Fury, what's the point. It's far too heavy to race and I'm too lazy to shift gears. I did put a shift kit in the tranny, but I'm not sure why. I suppose I can stick my chest out and proclaim - I have a shift kit!

4 spd conversions into non 4spd cars is costly and time consuming considering c bodies are mostly autos and parts are scarce. Finding a complete setup which is more than the trans itself can be frustating.maybe a full manual auto could be a solution or a standard shift kit . I bought a complete ready to install trans, setup the way i wanted from jw trans for about $1000. Proper converter will set you back another $500. I had to switch my trans to a later style cuz i had the course spline 727 in my 66
yea my 65 is a coarse spline as well I believe.... now that just refers to the converter compatibility though, correct? the engine compatibility is simply the 23 spline input and same bolt pattern, etc.
a guy down the road has a 727 on a 400 that came out of a cordoba, he wants 100 bucks for the tranny... then id send it to the machine shop and have it rebuilt, full manual valve body, mild shift kit, etc..... find a floor shifter
