A friend recently gave me these sway bars. Obviously one is a factory front C-body part, and the black one in the middle is the PST rear swaybar that hits the exhaust when most people try to install it. Then there is this mystery bar which I'm thinking may be a factory C-body rear bar.

Shape and size says front to me.rears are always smaller than fronts and usually less than an inch. Couldnt say on the year but would guess early 70's as said

for some reason it reminds me of the rear sway bar used on the smaller 80s cordobas, imperials and dippy cop cars. (the sway bars used on them mounts above the axle, not below)
I think if you do the research, you will find that Chrysler did not offer rear sway bars on any C-bodies 1973 and older. 1974-78 C-bodies did (in some instances) have rear bars available. The parts books indicate a 3/4" dia. bar. Actually, it was the same bar used on the later R-body cars (usually with a police package). The rear bars that were available with 1971-79 B-body cars were 7/8" dia. These also will work on the 74-78 C-bodies. They also will work on 1973 and older with proper brackets made up for attachment. The spring spacing is the same. I have one on my '76 New Yorker Brougham. The bar came off a '77 B-body cop car.
Every 1974-78 C-body that I have looked at has holes factory punched in the frame rails for attaching the bar mounting brackets. I made my own brackets from U-channel. The link brackets at the axle pad are B-body parts. Just check out the 1975 parts catalog in the rear suspension section.

Thanks, that's great information.
I thought the bar I had looked a little thick to be a rear bar. Never did get around to measuring the diameter. Too much to do, too little time.
