I was planning on getting a set of tti headers for the 300 with 1-7/8 primaries. $840 was the last price I got on them (from Mancini at the Nats). I know I may be able to get a better deal if I poke around, but they're pretty expensive anyplace.
As it turns out, a guy on an A-body website has a never installed, stored-in-his-dry-attic set of 1-3/4 Hooker Super Comps ($400+ when new in 1997) for a C-body that he only wants $150 for.
How big a difference would the 1/8 inch make in my combo? I've done everything in the build so far with the best stuff I could find, but for a $600 difference in price I would almost be willing to use the S/Cs.
The engine combo is a 4.15 stroked .040 over 440, 11.1 C.R. at zero deck, Edelbrocks and a .614 lift 246/250 duration hydraulic cam; running a Dana 60 with a 3.54 and possibly a low first in the trans.
I'm thinking that for the $600 savings I could get a pretty decent convertor, or a NOS setup, etc. and be ahead of the game. Any suggestions or opinions?

Is that the voice of personal experience, Scott? Where were the clearance issues? I've also heard they were a little tight on #1 cyl. with the Eddys.
I know tti's are great, and down the road that's what I'd like to end up with.
But for $150 VS. $840, I'm gonna go ahead and get these and give them a shot. They say not to use new ceramic headers to break in an engine, anyway. At best I may be able to have a tube modified here and there so they fit better and use them, at worst I'll end up with a cheap set of dyno headers that'll save the tti's from getting messed up and look good on the spare 440 in the garage.
No experience with the Super Comps, but I spoke with several people that had them when making the same decision a couple years ago. Although I was looking at new Super Comps. $150 that would be a tough call. I do have the TTI's on my Fury. Drivers slide right in, so did the Passenger side, but with a minor hick up. The T-Bar was touching the top of the collector. A little pressure on the collector and all is good! I did call TTI and they said they should have fit without that. They went as for as to give me the option to return them, or would also take them back if I ruined them having to modify them with my stock installation. Although the car was originall a 318. I was using all factory pieces.
I had open logs on when the motor was first fired and installed. But it never ran for more than 2-3 minutes. So the real break in was done with the TTI's on. 8000 miles later and nearly 2 years, they still look good.

I have used the hooker 1 3/4" super comps in C-bodies, and they have worked great. Was a bit cnofused about the other meassages, beacause my experience with teh SC's has been quite different. They remain relatively high, so even the ground clearance is pretty good. However, I have only used them with stock heads, and in '67- '68 C-bodies. They should be just the same, as those up to '73 model though. Can't really say anything about plug slearance with angled plugs. Here is an engine shot with the Hookers:

Yea, the pic shows us fine......FOR STOCK HEADS.........but for the angle plugs......go with what I'm saying. TRUST ME! The Hooker SC C body headers were designed for Mopar big blocks way before the Eddy heads were planned. With my 383 block in my 66', torsion bar clearence is NO PROBLEMO! With a 440.....yes, they will be closer to the pass. side due to 3/4" height difference. The fussey problem with brake master cyl. issue....I have no experience on that, so I will take their word on it.
TTI's work and fit good cause......they were made AFTER the Eddy heads came out! Not cheap! Tony P.
