Hi guys. Im after the correct bottom hose for a 67 new yorker. I bought one from Rockauto - but it does not have the interal 'spring' to prevent collapse in high speed/high flow conditions. Any idea of the correct manufacturer or leads on one with the spring? The one on the car is getting a little soft and Im about to set off on a loooong distance road trip. Would like to change it out prior to setting out.

I have used all Gates hoses on my Newports. I get them from the "local" parts store(s). I Googled the Gates web site and found the correct number to bring to them. I have never had one with a spring in it and have never had a problem.

New hoses don't come with the spring. You have to reuse the one you have. I haven't found a source for brand new replacement springs for the lower rad hose.

Thanks guys - the new one I have is a Gates and seems to be of good quality. Hopefully I can get the old spring out and into the new hose. I have had the lower ones (elcheapo) collapse before when they dont have the spring.

I learned the hard way by throwing one out and not taking the spring out. Couldn't find a spare spring so I bought some spring material from McMaster Carr and made one. Came out pretty good.
