imperial heaveyer l think my personal tastes would lean towards a newyorker as l find some imperials a little gawdy and overdone..belive the newyorker would be somewhat sleeker while still retaining those creature comforts...

IMO definitely imperial, no contest. the new yorkers of those years are the cluttered up looking ones in comparison with the imps. these years of imp look heavier and sleeker than the new yorker. almost brutal. the 73 newyorker has an especially generic front, but the 72 & 73 new yorkers have very nicely styled rear ends with low taillights that stretched across the back. i know the 69 imp had sequential taillights, not sure about 70 & 71. 72 & 73 had vertical taillights. but it's all personal taste and whats the best deal for the best car. good luck ! i'm off to look at a 72 monaco 2 door......

There were still small but significant differences that make the Imp a bigger pain the butt to maintain today over the NY. Get 95% of the visual impact of the Imp but cheaper maintenance over the long term.
