• I went to Advance Auto Parts Tappahannock: Drive Works DW-K781 in stock. The catalog showed this as correct right-side lower ball joint (LBJ), but it was much smaller than my LBJ. I suspect it has something to do with my car having disc rather than drum brakes. • My LBJ: 12.25" overall, 9.25" from center ball joint stud to rear of steering arm, 4.625" from center steering knuckle bolt to center steering knuckle bolt. Does anyone know where I can get a correct lower ball joint? thanks, Ben
Drum brakes use a different lower ball joint,,and for some reason our parts numbers and parts in general get mixed up I went to checkers to order my lower ball joints when I converted my 67 fury wagon to discs and they kept telling me and ordering one side telling me both ball joints were the same part,I finally got a person that understood looking at both parts and finally orderd the correct ones,,so our parts are still out there but you have to look hard sometimes and get a person willing to get out the books instead of the computer.

The drive works part number k781 is for a b body. The fury's/C body's use a different ball joint it's bigger. The 69-73 drum or disc cars use the same lower ball joint part number. I would avoid drive works like the plague. they aren't quality parts. When I rebuilt my front end I found a Rare parts wholesaler. Rare parts took over making c body ball joints when Moog Trw M'quay Norris stopped. Buy these and they will fit right and work well. If you go to o'reilly they will look up Rare Parts and sell for double at the store. Jason

Thank you for the links. Sorry to hear that driveworks are junk. Is it possible that Dale's 67 Fury could use a smaller lower ball joint with drums, but by 1969 the lower ball joint was same for disc and drum? It is also interesting that Advance's website and the instore computer showed the K781 for the 1970 Fury right side. Must be a catalog error. As far as the links, I didn't see Rare Parts written anywhere. Do you know they are Rare Parts by the part number? thanks, Ben

I bought Moog K7003 and K7005 from Mid-Canada Suspension.. They are the same for drum and disc, mine are disc. I bought them a bunch of years ago for $225 after an extensive search of suppliers all over Canada and the US. Mid-Canada seems to have an endless stock of NOS parts and his prices are really fair.

After much soaking with Liquid Wrench, I finally worked the left side torsion bar tensioning bolt out of the tensioner. My left side lower ball joint is also bad. Also, the left side outer tie rod end is frozen with rust. Is there a quality part from a national chain that replaces the outer tie rod end? Or do I have to go with rare parts for that too? Thanks again for your help, Ben

@benmonaco...No, the lower ball joints are the only hard-to-get/expensive suspension part for c-bodies. Tie-rod ends are easily obtainable from places like RockAuto, etc, noting it's always worth paying a little more for quality parts (eg Moog).
