Hey folks, I havent posted in a while, I have an Imperial like sticher bob and sjak brak, although my car looks like a ghetto beater compared to their show winners.
I posted in an old thread in parts wanted, and here, because my booster blew out last week and I could use one myself. Now I'm pretty sure I take the big round one, not the flat one that the C bodies take. I work at an auto parts store, and I could pick up one there, but it's a cardone reman and I don't want one of those cause cardone is junk. I'm still doing research but I want to know where I can get a good one.
Heres a pic of my booster, dont remember where I got it, it doesnt look big enough for my car.
I havent posted in a while, I have fixed my rag joint with two dorman #31002 kits, replaced my pass motor mount, put new energy suspension boots on my tie rods, found a brake rotor from a guy in CA,and peeled off my vinyl top and primed it and most of the whole car. I have lots of pictures an updates that I have posted on facebook if anyone's interested.

You're correct, that's the wrong booster on your car. You don't have too many choices if you don't want to use a Cardone unit. Booster Dewey does have cores in stock. The charge runs $25-$100, depending on the booster. It would be worth a phone call to see if he has a core in stock for you car and the price. Keep in mind that you are saving the $20 it would cost to ship a core out to him if you buy one outright. The correct unit for your car is the Midland-Ross tandem diaphram booster.

I called Booster dewey and I called Karps in Upland California. We really need to have a parts source link if we dont already.
KARP'S Power Brakes 66 N. Central Avenue Upland, CA 91786 Phone - 909.985.0800 Fax 909.985.5120 karpspbresleeve.com
Both were scratching their heads because I dont have the original booster with the correct rod, but Dewey's place quoted me $160 plus $100 for the core, which I won't get back because the one I have is for an a or b body and they dont want it.
Karps said they would call me tomorrow. I'm going to take another pic of the booster I have in there now and email it to them.
I dont remember how I got the wrong booster in there, but I do remember I was so disgusted with Cardone because by the fall of 2004 I had had the car since July of 02 and had already replaced the old unit with multiple cardone units and just wanted something new and not rebuilt. I should have changed it out long ago, as I know its the wrong one, but too lazy. Whatever happens I know that my next booster will make it much easier to stop. [ Edited Tue Jul 20 2010, 07:59PM ]

I was at work earlier looking at boosters used in later vans and trucks. My Dad's old 3/4 van used a dual diaphram bendix unit. Do I have to use a midland dual diaphram booster and can I use another dual diaphram booster?
I was going to take the booster out of the 71 Imperial in a junkyard near me, and try it out, and if it was no good use it as a core. But the car was sold -- believe it or not-- to a person restoring another Imperial. But there are plenty of trucks in the yard, too.

Hey Waginator, I've got a 1973 vintage Midland-Ross tandem booster out of a Town & Country wagon. It's got less than 60K on it, but I would recommend having it rebuilt just to be on the safe side. The car it came off of hasn't been on the road since 1993. If all goes according to plan, I'll be attending a car show in Newtown Square this Saturday, and I could bring it with me. I'm also in the Warminster area most Friday afternoons/evenings if you're in Northeast Philly. Fourty bucks, and it's your's.

Hey Jeff,
Well I have to work 3- 930 Sat, so I could meet up with you earlier in the day I guess.
Is this the dual diaphram booster, or the single one? Is it the dual diaphram because its a wagon? I had a 70 300 4-door and a 72 New Yorker, and they both had the flat boosters.
