You can get frame rail caps that go over rusted areas like that. I wish they'd had them when I was driving my '67 Sport Fury as that car would still be on the road today. I also wish I had known back then that my '70 Fury parts car probably had a swappable subframe. But if you want to repair what you have the Safe-T-Caps might be the way to go.

I believe that Autorust safety cap is no longer made for C bodies. I spoke with one of the reps more than ago and he gave me the bad news. Try Year One's products...a bit spendy...

You have two options. One: swap the subframe. Any y-frame sub will fit. I believe that's any 67-73.
Option 2: just cut some plate and start plating the rust spots. The best way is to cut out the rust sections and weld in some new metal and grind it back smooth. You don't need to buy any pre-made product. Just get some plate steel and get to welding. This isn't a '70 hemi cuda. Just fix it so it's rigid and rust-free.

Trunkspace, I have a front subframe from a 66 Chrysler that I am looking to sell (cheap!) It was also rusted out at the back edge, but not very badly and new steel was welded in place.

I don't believe 72 subframe would be a straightforward swap. Fuselage-era C's have rubber isolators in the body mounts, whereas 65-68 front subframes are bolted rigidly to the unibody.
Trunkspace's location says he's in "Ontario". Must be Ontario, Canada not Ontario, California because he posted in another thread that he is 3 hours drive from New Hamburg. !thumb
