Here we are into the third month of 2011 and nothing was done on the BoaB for the most part of the winter. However,in my usual fashion,I have been gathering up parts when the garage is dormant. I gathered up all the front end parts I needed to complete the rebuild. I was hoping to use the existing tie rods and left lower ball joint, but being old and dried up,they were questionable at best and the rubber boots are badly dry rotted. The ball joint is an E bay score for 93.00 The NOS outer tie rods and sleeves and NORS Moog inners and idler arm I got from Jack Forkey. All in all the total for the parts including what I bought already is still cheaper than the cheap chinese rebuild kit seen on E bay.

The winter time I did work in the garage only when necessary mainly doing emergency repairs on the waygun. But I left it in a mess and got worse as time went by. This week,I cleaned it up,and took out the trash. I am happy to be back to work on the BoaB.

When rebuilding the front end it is always best do everything, that way you know it's all done. I rebuilt mine 3 years ago with parts I bought individually. All of the parts are Moog or TRW and yes it was cheaper than those Chinese kits you see on E-Pay. It was worth it. The car drives like a dream.

Got off work early today and took advantage of the spare time in my garage. I removed the left tie rods and lower ball joint as an assembly. I threaded in my new tie rods and sleeves. Turns out the outer tie rods are incorrect and are too long. Plus one was boxed wrong and actually is an inner tie rod (left hand thread). Stumbling block #1. Anyways..I installed the left lower ball joint, and the drum brake assembly. Now I can install the left torsion bar. I could not find the well hidden torsion bar grease boot----the one I put away so it would not get lost. Stumbling block #2 FOUND IT!! Crawled underneath, greased 'er all up and slid the torsion bar in a little ways, then installed the boot. The darn old boot split in half Stumbling block #3 No dissapointment since it has been a long time away from working on the car. Just have to get the parts I need to finish the left side and keep movin' onto the right.

The orginal old outer tie rod is on the left, with the NOS one on the right. It is too long. I am assuming it is for a truck or Fusey. I found the correct one today and will pick them up Saturday.
