I am thinking about installing a 318 with 727 trans from a 73 Fury into my 69 Chrysler so I can drive it while I rebuild the original 440. Will it just drop right in? Since it is a 727, can I expect the driveshaft from the 69 Chrysler to still be the correct length? What about motor mounts: best I can tell, in 73, C-bodies were still using the same motor mounts as in 69, the rubber sandwich type, unlike B and E bodies, which had gone over to the spool type mounts by that year (I think). Is this true? If all this lines up okay, then the only necessary modification will be the exhaust system.

correct me if I am wrong here, but I dont think that the motor mounts will line up without a kit. Someone asked about a similar big block to small block swap in a C body a while ago. Try calling Schumacker Creative Services to see if they have what you will need. Since I have never tried this swap before I am not sure about your driveshaft lengh. If the rear trans mount is in the same place and the tailshaft of the SB 727 is the same length as the BB, your driveshaft should work. The only way to be sure is to measure, then measure again, then measure a third time just to be sure...oh and dont forget to measure!

I believe the small blocks changed their water inlet side between '69 and '70, that may be an issue and you will definitely need a small block radiator. The one out of the C body may work with modifications. The trans is the same, 727A and 727Bs are all the same, drive shaft, cross member and shift linkage. I believe if you put '69 318 isolators and motor mounts it will bolt right in. My $02

Outlets on the radiator is on different sides. The waterpump outlet is on the right side while on the big block it's on the left side.Nothing that can't be mode to work.

It will drop right in as long as it's a 727 and not a 904.
Watch the gear ratios though. . . If you can get the carrier from the donor, swap that too. The Doner may be an 8 1/4 which may change the drive shaft as the 8 3/4 rear has a longer nose. You'll need to get a shaft from a Dodge or Chrysler with the same wheel base. Plymouth is shorter. Just a note on that.
The wiring will be longer, but that's easy to deal with. Of course the exhaust will be an issue, the biggest one of everything.
